Kotgadhi Sikhar Samaj (KOSIS) is a non-governmental, not for profit, social organization based in remote part of Khanibhanjyang in Okhaldhunga district. KOSIS was registered as an organization in 2060 at District Administration Office of Okhaldhunga district under Institution Registration Act 1978 (2034 BS). KOSIS is also affiliated to Social Welfare Council of Nepal (Affiliation No- 16010) under SWC Act.
This organization was established with the aim of supporting local people in income generation and livelihood by creating access to local resources. KOSIS envisions creating a just and equitable society through equal distribution of resources for infrastructure development. KOSIS works with various development agencies to increase local people’s participation in development planning and execution of development activities by contributing in good governance.
KOSIS has 1383 general members and 50,000 direct beneficiaries in 20 VDCs of Okhaldhunga district. The general assembly is the supreme body inside the organization which holds the authority to approve policies and strategies. The general assembly elects executive committee. The executive committee is responsible for overall implementation of the approved programs and budget.
KOSIS works in the remote villages of rural Okhaldhunga district where there is minimal presence of developmental organizations. KOSIS follows democratic values and principle in all its activities and programs. KOSIS has a deep understanding of development needs, issues, challenges and potential of Okhaldhunga district. Over the years KOSIS has gained expertise in using social mobilization as an integral part of development process.
